Lakes Resort Pauanui  (Coromandel)

Set in 20 hectares of native bush and wetlands the Lakes golf course is one of the newest additions to New Zealand's fine collection. Designed by Canadian firm Sid Puddicombe Associates, it's said to have the best back nine holes in New Zealand. The greens are also without question among the best in the country, they are the first putting surface in NZ to be made from L93 Bent, an exceptionally strong and consistent strain of grass developed at the University of Georgia in the United States. The course opened in 2004 so it's still settling down and the final look of this Coromandel gem is still to come. However, the stone bridges, waterfalls, native bush, and the unique boardwalk that links the 4th green with the 5th tee add up to a new golf links that's the perfect place to play when visitors to this special region of New Zealand are not relaxing at the beach or at sea catching game fish!
